Is a colour blind person eligible to become a doctor?

Q: I am a medical student preparing for P.M.T. exams. I am interested in becoming a doctor (MD) but I am suffering from colour blindness (partial). So I am afraid that I may get rejected during medical fitness test. Presently I am doing BDS and I want to know whether colour blindness has anything to do with dental studies? So I want to know whether or not a colour blind person is eligible for becoming a doctor and if a person is eligible then in what department after MBBS one can apply?

A:There are many doctors who are colour blind and it has not hindered them in their careers. I suppose there are some branches of medicine where acuity in colour vision is required like histopathology or biochemistry but, by and large, colour blindness should not deter you from the choice of most of the other specialties.
