Q: Hello Doctor, I am 25 yrs old and married for the past 4 months. I have a discharge from my navel for a year or so now. Its very smelly and yellow in color. I went to a surgeon who said that it was not cleaned properly and gave me betatdine solution. After applying it stopped for some days but then it has again started. A:You probably have an umbilical granuloma. This is a small ulcer-like lesion with a raw area in the umbilicus, discharging fluid. It needs removal by surgery. The surgery usually should extend upto a depth of a few inches, therefore the operation is always done under general anaesthesia. Consult a surgeon. The condition is not in the least serious.
