How to treat pain in the shoulders?

Q: I used to go to the gym every morning and do physical exercise for at least 1 hr. For the past 2 weeks, I had a little pain on my right shoulder but I did not take it seriously and continued my regular exercise. Now, it doesn't seem to be curable and the pain is increasing daily. I consulted a specialist who gave injection for pain for 1 week. There was no pain while the injections were taken but now the pain has recurred and there is no sign of any improvement. Please help.

A:Its difficult to know without examination what the problem is. There may be sprain of some muscle which may be postural or there may be inflammation of some tendon. You may try some anti-inflammatory with muscle relaxants. If moving your shoulder is painful, then you may have to stop doing exercises, and just work on some physical therapy. Hot fomentation may help to relieve pain. If not relieved you may need to see an orthopaedic surgeon
