How to relieve upper back pain restricting neck movements?

Q: I am facing pain in the upper back portion of the spinal column. It is a sort of pinching pain but sometimes it is heavy. Neck movements on the right side are getting restricted due to this. Presently I am being treated by muscle relief tablets. Could this be due to cervical spondylosis? Please suggest some exercises and what should be the exercise schedule? I have been regular on exercises except the last 20 days, since when I started having this pain.

A:Investigations like an x-ray should be done. Short wave diathermy and CT 10 sittings should be taken at a physiotherapy centre. Avoid doing exercises during acute phase. Neck movements will help in relieving pain and discomfort. In acute pains one can use cervical collar for 2 hours. Neck pains are as a result of bad posture while sitting in front of computer for long duration. In such case do stretching exercises every 2-3 hours.
