How to manage severe ichthyosis in my child?

Q: My 7-year-old son is suffering from ichthyosis. He was born as collodian baby, suspected type: Congenital, Lamellar. None in the family carries the same. However, my second issue, a daughter aged 12 years is also suffering from the same. Nowadays it is severe, my son complains about itching, all over the body. There is peeling of the skin, redness and red patches. Changing process is acute and faster nowadays. He is also feverish and his body remains warm. Please advise.

A:Treatment of lamellar ichthyosis is symptomatic. Moisturisers and keratolytics will have to be used most of the time. According to the superimposed problem, other medicines will be required which can not be predicted.
