How to get rid of candidiasis?

Q: I am an Indian girl of 22 years studying outside india. I am suffering from candidiasis infection from last two years. I consulted gynaecologists who treated me but of no use. The infection gets repeated and I have to take the medicines again and again. Right now the place I am living in is having a weather much colder than India. I want to get rid of this infection. Is there any way by which it could be treated once and for all? I have heard that medicines dont help and the infection relapses. Please help.

A:The fungal infection will recur if not properly treated - specially in humid weather - or if you have a family history of diabetes. Take the following precautions:

  • Maintain proper hygiene of undergarments;
  • Get your blood sugar tested;
  • Avoid contact with persons having any type of fungal infection;
  • Take anti-fungal tablets for one week, and also apply local anti-fungal cream and continue to apply it for at least two weeks after the infection disappears;
  • Avoid sexual exposure while the treatment is on.
