How can I prevent the recurrence of tuberculosis?

Q: I am a 30 year old working woman. I had tuberculosis last year. I took a 9 months course as prescribed by doctors of AKT-3 and Iron capsules. But these days I still feel coughing specially when I take oily food or very chilled drinks or food items (water, milk or any drink). I have consulted my doctor he says that this is due to pollution but I am afraid as it may again be starting of TB. I want to know what are the chances of recurring TB and what type of precautions should I take to keep my lungs healthy and cough free?

A:If you have taken adequate ATT and your X-ray as well as sputum examination do not suggest persistence of active tuberculosis, you need not worry about relapses. There are no special precautions that one can take except follow general principles of healthy living to prevent occurrence of disease. If your symptoms persist then you should get your X-ray repeated.
