Dry skin
Q: Currently I am in the UK and am suffering from severe dry skin. I have tried applying moisturisers but they have not been of much help. I also have dark patches over bony areas. Kindly suggest how to get rid of these problems.
A:I note your problem about dryness of the skin while living in the UK. Unless your skin is genetically predisposed to developing dryness this may be the direct result of low humidity in the atmosphere. Application of a moisturizer is the correct treatment you are doing. You should apply moisturizer soon after your shower/bath while the skin is a little damp even after towelling your body. This will permit the moisture to be retained in the skin for much longer period. If despite that your dryness bothers you, you will have to consult with a local dermatologist.
