Does my daughter have anaemia?
Q: My daughter is 2.6 years old. She is a very active child. But she doesn't drink milk or have any milk products after we stopped giving milk from bottle. We told this to her doctor. The doctor informed us that she will need some iron injections, as she is anaemic but didn't conduct any blood tests. Should she be given iron injections?
A:If your child is anaemic, we should confirm that this is iron deficiency and nothing else, and this could be done by a simple blood test. If she has iron deficiency anaemia, then most often this can be corrected by supplementing iron rich diet and syrups containing iron.
