Does drinking excess water and taking honey help control diabetes?

Q: Does drinking 1.5 l water after waking up in the morning, without brushing teeth help in controlling diabetes? As per some books on naturotherapy it was mentioned that this water therapy can definitely bring down the sugar level to normal within months. Please give your opinion. Can a diabetic patient take honey? I have read that honey is good for health and has no side effects.

A:Drinking large amounts of water in response to diabetic hyperglycaemia (high blood sugar) is important. Drinking much greater amounts at any time of the day offers no benefit and may be harmful. Honey and sugary foods can destabilize diabetes and thus honey in any form is not good for diabetes, whereas smaller amounts are neither beneficial nor harmful.
