Could hair growth on the lips be a hormonal problem?

Q: I am a 37 years old female thyroid patient. Over the last one year I am undergoing hormone treatment for high prolactin. For the last 6 years, I am taking 100 mcg eltroxin everyday and for the last one year, I am taking 40 mg pantocid. Recently, I had another problem as some hair started growing on my upper and lower lips. Please let me know whether this phenomenon is due to drug reaction or any other hormone problem and if so, what is the treatment?

A:Hair growth on the upper lip may be due to a hormonal problem distinct from hypothyroidism and hyperprolactinemia. You will need a clinical examination and relevent hormone tests before the treatment can be prescribed.
