Q: I had surgery for appendicitis three days back. Previously, I had plans to travel to Hawaii but do you think I can go or do I have to cancel my trip? My doctor said I could go. Please advise.

A:I would not advise a long haul flight so soon after surgery. Although the risk is small there is potentially a greater risk of thrombosis in the early stages after an operation.
