Q: Can I purchase health insurance for colitis? My son is a graduate and is covered under COBRA. He is looking to purchase medical insurance because his employer does not offer health insurance. He is working in California. Any suggestions?

A:You cannot purchase health insurance for a disease you already have. Insurance is risk coverage but in case you are sure to have a clam because of an already existing disease, then there is no risk left i.e. you have a surety of a claim and there fore you will not be able to obtain an insurance to cover the cost of treatment for that ailment.
