Who does not like chocolate? Be it a cup of soothing hot chocolate or a refreshing serving of cold chocolate, we all love it. Agree, foodies? But did you know it is one of the most powerful anti-inflammatory drinks? Well, according to wellness coach Luke Coutinho, it is. In a video uploaded on Instagram, Luke refers to hot/cold chocolate as “one nutrient powerhouse of a drink.” Talking about the versatility of the drink, the wellness coach adds, “You can have it when it's hot, or you can have it when it's cold. Just changing the temperature. The way you make it, it could be a mug of steaming hot or ice-cold chocolate.”

Luke Coutinho also advises using 75%, 80% or 90% high-quality dark chocolate and avoiding chocolate that contains heavy metals or chemicals. He adds, “If you are vegan, you can make it in coconut milk. You can make it with almond milk, or nut milk. If You're not, you can do it but normal milk. I make mine with water. It just tastes good and I want the nutrition so I am not too concerned about the taste.”
According to wellness coach Luke Coutinho, hot/cold chocolate is great for young girls and women who are going through painful periods. It provides magnesium, iron, copper, the B-vitamin spectrum and essential minerals. He mentions that it is excellent for overall health, especially endothelial health. He calls chocolate a "nutrient powerhouse," but advises not to overconsume it as it is high in calories and can lead to weight gain.
Luke Coutinho recommends consuming 10g to 15g of good-quality dark chocolate to get all the health benefits. Real chocolate, he explains, helps stimulate and synthesize neurotransmitters like serotonin and dopamine, which improve mood and make you feel good.
