Q: I am a 33 years old female, had three miscarriages in the past. I have polycystic ovarian disease (PCOD) and am taking Glycomet twice daily. Recently I have been tested for Torch and IgG level has come out to be high (positive) where as IgM level is negative. Five to six months back, I also had itching and red rashes all over my body but didn’t go for any treatment. Am I still infected by virus? Is there any treatment for this? Can it be totally curable? Will I be able to have a healthy baby? Can my husband also get infected through me?

A:Yes, the chances of a normal baby are still over 60%. The titres need to be kept in control, and repeated after 2-3 weeks, if still high, Tab Rovomycin has to be started and regular follow up needed. No, the husband cannot be infected. Tablet Rovomycin is needed to prevent infection to the child.
