Q: I am a 26 years old woman in my seventh week of pregnancy. The doctor has tested and confirmed that I am having thyroid disorder and TSH report indicates 31.04miu/ml. I am suggested to take thyronorm tablets 50mg/day. Will thyroid disorder affect the baby?
A:Hypothyroidism can have adverse effect on the neural development of the baby. You need to take medicine continuously during pregnancy ad get your thyroid test repeated after 4 weeks to see if any dose alteration is required.
