Will surgery help me get rid of contact lenses?

Q: I am 18 years old and my eye power number is -8.00. I went to a doctor for an operation but he gave me 6 months medicine to avoid fluctuations in my eye power. He suggested me to get this operated after 6 months. Will I be able to get rid of contact lens?

For Lasik surgery, the guidelines are:1) You must have a stable number. 2) You should be more than 18 years of age.3) Appropriate corneal thickness. 4) Retina with no holes/tears. 5) No dry eye. 6) Normal eye pressure. 7) You will have to stop wearing contact lenses 2-4 weeks before the surgery.
