Will my twins be born prematurely?

Q: I am 28 years old, mother of a 4 years old child. I am pregnant for the second time with twins. I am in my 27th week of pregnancy. The doctor told me that twins are in different amniotic sacs but they share a single placenta? Is there a risks in the growth of twins when they share single placenta. I have learnt that twins are usually delivered before time. I get pain in my inner thighs at night. What could be the reason for this?

A:If your babies are growing fine, in all probability they have different circulation and would both go on to do well. Yes, twins do have a higher incidence of preterm labour, for which you should take uterine relaxants and bed rest, but only after a nod from your doctor.
