Q: My 65 years old father is suffering from cataract and he is not able to see any thing clear from his right eye. The doctor said that he has cataract and surgery is needed but even after surgery his vision in the right eye will not improve at all and will remain the same, as it was not treated on time. Is there any possibility of getting clear vision?
A:Blindness / diminution of vision due to cataract is reversible and gets cured by cataract surgery. If there are retinal problems (AMD / macular hole or glaucoma etc.) then visual prognosis is guarded. You have not specified if there are any retinal problems, hence I am unable to answer this query completely. You should specifically discuss this with the ophthalmologist.
