Will I develop schizophrenia at a later stage?

Dr Ashu Gandhi

Q: Does a person suffering from depression and hypertension develop chronic schizophrenia in the long run?

A:Depression and hypertension are certainly not protective factors for development of schizophrenia. However, there should always be an attempt to rule out organic factors in development of schizophrenia or any other mental disorder at a later stage. Mental disorders and physical disorders can occur together.
