Q: My 32 years old wife met with an accident one year back. The doctor found a little trauma in her brain (back portion) through CT scan and MRI. Her sense of smell is not as per normal range. After six months, she could smell flowers, fried fish, perfume etc. She also vomits after having lunch and dinner. Why is my wife unable to smell?
A:After a head injury, losing the capability to smell (anosmia) or smell abnormally (parosmia) are common. There can be partial restoration and one has to wait till it recovers on its own .There is no medicine which can restore it. Please don’t worry; it would become better as time goes on.
