Why is my wife reluctant to have sex even after a year of delivery?

Q: I stopped having sex with my wife after she became pregnant earlier last year. The baby is almost a year old now, but she still refuses to have sex. I compelled her to have sex once recently but she was very reluctant and very uncooperative. I have stopped pushing her for sex now. She is not forthcoming and telling me what is wrong or why is she behaving like that? What could be the reason for my wife’s reluctance for sex? Is this a temporary problem or is it going to be a long term one?

A:It is a bit unusual to refuse sex for almost one year after the childbirth. It is a good idea to talk to her in a gentle manner about her reluctance. If it doesn't work, please seek the help of a sex and marriage counsellor at the earliest. Reasons for such a refusal can be many. For example, she may be afraid to become pregnant once again or she is too pre-occupied with the baby right now.
