Why is my child's skin turning darker?

Q: I have a seven months old baby girl. Day by day her skin is turning black. Though the face is fair, the body is turning darker. What could be the reason and what care should I take?

A:Dry skin/ichthyosis can cause darkening of the skin. Suitable moisturisers can be prescribed by a dermatologist. If there are any systemic problems-hormonal disorders should be ruled out.
