Q: My 8 year old son's right palm & fingers are smaller than his left hand. The right palm could not develop fully. What is the treatment?
A:This condition is called a hypoplastic hand. The size of not only the fingers but also of the muscles of the hand will be smaller. Functionally, the baby would be able to move the fingers and perform functions later in life. But the cosmetic difference will remain. Besides physiotherapy later, nothing can be offered by way of surgical correction.
