Why is my child getting urine infection?

Q: My daughter is 4 years old. Since the last six months she is getting either a throat or urine infection every month. Presently she is suffering from urine infection and the doctor advised us an ultra sound of the lower obdomen which seems normal. But as per the doctor's statement, the bladder neck has become thick which, according to him, is common and is due to urine infection. Is it true? How can we protect our daughter from such infections?

A:You can't ignore a urine infection. You have to consult a good pediatrician for it. If there’s no evidence of reflux disease then its OK. Since your child was well till first 3.5 yrs of age it's unlikely that there should be any immunological problem i.e. defective resistance. As a parent what you can do is look into the hygiene and, most important, into the nutrition of your child.
