Q: My daughter gets bad dreams every night. What could be the cause of her disturbed sleep?

A:Bad dreams or nightmares are common especially in kids and adolescents. Unless there are other symptoms of anxiety disorder associated there is no need to worry about just bad dreams. However, if they are causing significant difficulty sleeping then she may need an evaluation by a sleep physician or a psychiatrist to further assess her.
