Why does my baby have mucous in her eyes?

Q: My 7 months old daughter has had mucous in her eyes since the time she was born. The doctor says that this is nothing to worry about. The mucous has not diminished and we are worried. Please help.

A:Mucous in the eye is associated often with watering from the eye. This may be associated with a nasolacrimal duct blockage. You should see an opthalmologist as sometimes this needs surgical treatment like probing.
