Q: I am a 22 years old boy. I met with an accident while riding bike a week back and though no major injury occurred, I experience slow pain on the right side of my abdomen. The doctor has told me that the pain is due to muscle strain and has given me Itopan and Evon-60 but the pain still persists. What should I do?
A:Well from the limited information that you have given, I can tell that if you had a soft tissue injury with the bike accident the same should normally heal in 7-10 days. Injury to the liver (subcapsular haematoma) is very common during accidents and presents as dull aching pain on the right side of the abdomen. The best way to diagnose this is by CT scan. My suggestion to you is that if the pain persists or increases despite taking anti-inflammatory medications then the next step would be to investigate further and look for the specific cause of the pain.
