Q: I am 35 years old. For the past five years I am suffering from headache, weakness, tiredness, lethargy and drowsiness throughout the day. I have problems getting sleep at night. I feel impatient and restless, have difficulty concentrating, sensitive to light, loss of appetite and burring of vision. Am I suffering from meningitis? At present I am taking an antidepressant but it is no help at all. Please advise.
A:Based on your information, I would recommend that you see a psychiatrist for further comprehensive evaluation. Since you have difficulty getting sleep and feel drowsy/sleepy during daytime, it is possible that the underlying night-time sleep disturbances are leading to daytime tiredness / difficulty concentrating. In addition depression / anxiety disorders could contribute all these symptoms as well.
