Why did I have pain after starting exercising?

Q: I started exercising a few days ago to lose weight. However, I had a lot of pain. I did press-ups and have pain in my arms for more than 2 days. I did stomach crunches as well as sit-ups and have pain in my lower stomach. I was told that I should drink about two litres of water a day. I don't drink a lot in the morning or afternoon. I begin my 2 litres at night and fall sick after drinking 1 litre. Should I stop this routine or would I get used to it?

A:Like anything in life, starting something new will always be difficult and will cause some discomfort. And like with everything else, you must go slowly into it or the body will revolt. So even though you can expect some delayed onset of muscle soreness (DOMS), by keeping a days rest and going back to it BUT Slowly will get the body used to the new exercises. Do not do many repetitions of any exercise, nor use very weights, nor do the MOST difficult one. Build up your workout carefully, slowly and then you will not only see results but feel better about yourself rather than feel pain! That might impress your girlfriend better! Give everything time. Rome wasn't built in a day!
