Q: My 43 years old uncle used to get severe bouts of cough followed by breathlessness. His cardiologist diagnosed that he has fluid accumulation in his lungs. He also suffered from hypertension, diabetes and his creatine value initially was 5.09 and is 8.39 now. The lung fluid has been completely removed and my uncle is stable now with normal respiration and cardio functions including blood pressure and diabetics. Why did my uncle get fluid accumulated in his lungs?

A:It seems your uncle has underlying chronic kidney disease due to diabetes and hypertension and he developed acute fluid overload due to retention of salt and water. Now that his breathing is better and urine output is good, one needs to wait to see recovery of acute deterioration of kidney function which may take 1-3 weeks.
