Why can’t I read properly even after a LASIK surgery?

Dr Mahipal S. Sachdev

New Delhi

Q: I am a 24 years old male, and I underwent Lasik last year. For six months after surgery, I continued using the eye drops FML prescribed by the physician. I feel that my eyes have not fully recovered. I experience difficulty in reading something placed 15 feet far. What should I do?

A:Please get yourself examined by your treating refractive surgeon for any residual eye power. Some amount of dryness is normal after a LASIK procedure and you may need to use lubricating eye drops for a few months. FML is a mild steroid and should only be instilled under direct supervision of a qualified eye specialist. Quality of vision may vary after LASIK and if all else is well, you need not worry.
