Q: I found out some months back that my insulin level is very high. I take 2000 mg Metformin a day. But the insulin levels have not come down at all. I eat healthy. What else should I do?
A:Just high insulin levels do not need to be treated with drugs unless blood sugars are also high. In most instances they are a reflection of insulin resistance which is due to increased weight. You need to lose weight by regular exercise and a weight losing diet. A consultation with a trained dietician would be useful.
