Which insurance policies in India cover pre-existing diseases?

Q: In India, companies like ICICI Lombard offer coverage of pre-existing diseases after a certain number of years from the policy purchase date. Which other health insurance companies offer such a product, which cover pre-existing diseases?

A:Generally pre existing diseases are covered more under group policies than under Individual medical insurance policies. Individual policies covering pre existing cover are offered by companies including Bajaj Allainz & Oriental Insurance. ICICI Lombard used to offer a cover for pre existing disease but last I knew they had discontinued this cover. Generally, there is a moratorium period (waiting period) before the coverage of the pre existing ailment begins and in this period there should be no hospitalisation on account of the declared ailment.
