Q: A friend of mine of Nigerian origin need a kidney transplant. Her real brother is ready to donate one of his kidneys for her. They want to transplant in India, kindly tell us what tests required for it.
A:The donor as well as the recipient needs to be investigated in detail at a centre where a kidney transplant is done. Kidney transplants are done in India at many places and centres doing more than 100 transplants / year are CMC Vellore, Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals, Delhi, SGPGI Lucknow & PGI Chandigarh.
