When is the vaccination for measles given to a child?

Q: According to the immunisation chart the vaccination for measles is given after 9 months, but my paediatrician has given my baby the vaccination at the age of 6 months. Is there any harm in giving it at such an early age?

A:Measles vaccination can be given at any time between 6-9 months. Vaccine which is given very early may induce lesser antibody producing response but there is no harm if it has been given at 6 months. Anyway a booster for measles is given as MMR (Measles Mumps and Rubella) at around 15 months.
