What should I do for tendonitis of the knee?

Q: I play tennis about 2-3 times a week on a synthetic surface and have developed tendonitis just below my left knee. I can feel a knot just below the knee and it generally pains and also troubles while playing. I did give it a rest for about 2 weeks but there is not much improvement. I have also tried the leg stretch (holding the leg muscles stiffly for a couple of seconds) but not much relief is seen. What should I do other than to stop playing tennis?
A:Use a knee cap for supporting your knee. Use it for 2 hours intervals. I would advise an ultrasound treatment for 10 sittings and TENS 10 sittings. Postpone playing tennis and other activities like jogging for a month. Knee strengthening exercises can be followed after above treatment. Wish you speedy recovery.
