Q: I have been operated for hip joint about three years back and ball and rod have been implanted at Ruby Clinic in Pune. Even though the operation was done in my right leg I am having muscle pull and I find it difficult to walk fast. I am using walking stick for walking. I am walking daily in the mornings for about half an hour outside. I am unable to climb the staircase steps with alternate legs. What do you suggest to overcome the muscle pain? Please advise.

A:You need to get an X-ray of your right hip joint. A clinical examination is also a must. You could have developed a complication and that needs to be reported to your orthopaedic surgeon at the earliest.Secondly, if your X-ray reports are normal, then you will have to undergo exercises for your right hip and knee so that your muscles are strong enough to take your body weight during weight transfer required during climbing steps. I suggest in that case you please go to a physiotherapist and start exercises under proper guidance.
