Q: Recently I had blood mixed in my urine and the ultrasound showed an inflammation of the urinary tract. Urine culture showed occasional E. coli. There was an incidental finding of two ovarian cysts measuring 7.2 x 4.4 cms and 2.4 x 2.4 cms. I have had occasional flank pain. What should be done?

A:The cause for blood in your urine most likely is related to urinary tract infection by E. coli. You need 7-10 days of appropriate antibiotic as per the urine culture sensitivity report. Blood in urine should clear however if it recurs then you need to see a urologist.
