Q: My 2 and a half-year-old child is suffering from cyanotic heart disease since birth. He is underweight. He has already undergone BT shunt at the age of 5 months. Please suggest a diet for him.
A:At 2 and a 1/2 years of age, even if he has undergone BT shunt, give him normal diet, home made food containing enough carbohydrates, proteins like cereals, pulses i.e. rice dal, chapati with some green vegetables and fruits. Please see if his growth is fine, otherwise you may need to give supplements.
