What kind of a diet should my HIV positive mother follow?

Q: My 48 years old mother is HIV positive. My father died of HIV a year back. I don't know since how long my mother is suffering from HIV. She is undergoing treatment right now. And the doctor has prescribed her Trustiva. Is this medicine effective in treating HIV? What kind of precautions and diet should my mother take?

  1. "TRUSTIVA" is a brand name of a drug used in treatment of HIV positive patients. If you let us know what all are the pharmacological constituents of this medicare, we may be able to comment of its effectiveness.
  2. Precautions: She must not share her items of personal use such as a toothbrush, razor with any. She must eat a nutritious balanced diet. Please get a diet chart made for her according to her body weight. She should exercise regularly, should not smoke or drink. In short, she should have a positive healthy life style.
