What is the treatment for erythema multiforme?

Q: My friend is suffering from a skin disease called erythema multiforme. She got infected due to ulcers in the month. She took precautions that helped her but the infection has recurred. Please advise.

A:Erythema multiforme is a hypersensitivity reaction due to infections, drugs, vaccination etc. Most common cause of this is recurrent herpes labialis which can be easily managed with tablets acyclovir 200mg five times daily for 5-7 days. Actually patient need to be investigated and treated for the cause by a dermatologist. Please consult a dermatologist.
