Q: I had an accident four years back, in which I suffered severe burn injuries. Now four years after the incident, I still have some patches on my hand that are left without any pigment. I was advised to go for natural healing process, but it is taking too long a time and now I am losing my self-confidence. How can I get back the colour on my hands? What are PUVA therapy and micro-pigmentation? Can I get benefitted by undergoing these treatments?
A:I must tell you that if pigmentation over a post-burn scar has not reappeared in four years, it only means that the melanocytes (pigment laden cells) are completely destroyed. This also means that PUVA will not help. You must only turn towards micro-pigmentation, which is quite frequently helpful.
