Q: I have a large black spots on my back. The doctor says that it is Beckers naevus. What is it and how can it be treated?
A:Beckers naevus is a melanocytic naevus which appears at adolescence. It presents as brownish flat lesion usually over the shoulder area or upper back. There may be associated satellite lesions, hairiness or acne lesions in it. It remains asymptomatic and there is no potential for malignant change in this. Generally, it is left alone and no treatment is indicated. Lasers have been used for its treatment, but scarring is a real danger.
