Q: I had Malaria fever last year. Now a week back I had fever and so tested for malaria, jaundice etc. which were all negative and normal. I plan to go abroad next week. My doctor told me to take Malirid (primaquine 7.5 mg 30 tablets) daily as a precaution. I am having body pain and can't eat properly. Kindly help me. Can I take general tablets to Australia?

A:Malirid is the brand name of a medicine called primaquine 7.5mg per tablet. It is taken to eradicate malaria organism during an attack. It MUST NOT be taken for more than 14 days. No anti-malaria medicine is required in Australia since there is no malaria in that country.
