What is the cause of frequent urination in a baby?

Q: My 4 months old son is urinating 30 to 40 times everyday and sometimes he cries while urinating. Please suggest what I should do? What is the problem and the management?

A:Your child may be having a urinary tract infection. Get his urine tested for: - Routine examination for sugar and albumin,- Microscopic examination for pus cells and - Culture with colony count. Also check if there is any local irritation due to tight diapers.
