Q: How does cold sweat occur? It is commonly said that when people sweat in cold weather, the main reason is anxiety. Is this true?
A:Cold sweat doesn't only occur in cold weather; it can also appear in warm climate in response to a stressful event. It is caused by hormones of stress in the body which are released by a stressful and unpleasant event. Thus, cold sweat in an otherwise healthy individual is a sign of anxiety or a panic reaction. Cold sweat in an ill person is caused by collapse of blood pressure and is an ominous sign of shock.
