Q: What is genital urinary tuberculosis? What are its causes? What is the treatment for this? Does it harm the patients a lot?

A:Genitourinary tuberculosis is infection of the kidneys or the rest of the urinary passage in males and includes the uterus as well as ovaries in females with the tuberculosis bacteria. The treatment is the same as for tuberculosis anywhere else in the body but needs to be for a longer duration upto 18 months. It can cause permanent damage to these organs if not treated promptly or completely.
