Q: Punch hair grafting done by a physician is a surgical approach to transferring hair from one part of the head to another. It is somewhat painful and expensive, but usually permanent. The information furnished above is copied from this site. I wish to know further, will there be any health related problem after the process? I heard, one will have to be taking antibiotics all through the life. Is it true?

A:Punch hair grafting is a very safe and effective method of dealing with alopecia of the scalp. It is generally done under local anaesthesia, sometimes under general anaesthesia. Results obtained are permanent. Since this procedure is time consuming and labor intensive, surgeons charge little more. It does not have any adverse effect on the health of a person. Antibiotic therapy is used for a short spell of time till wound heals. Nobody gives antibiotic therapy for full life span of the person.
