Q: My 55 years old mother got fits and was unconscious for a few minutes two weeks back. We took her urgently to the hospital and found that she had a brain tumour called meningioma. What is meningioma? Doctors have advised surgery. Is there any other way to avoid surgery?

A:Meningioma is a benign tumour (non-cancerous) grows slowly and if it is small and not causing any pressure effects surgery maybe deffered. Many people live with small meningiomas live a normal life without surgery. However, you need to take antiepileptic drugs under guidance.
